To a Cool Friend

I am still catching up with posting some of my cards from the October A Muse Studio release. This one is sweet and simple and was the first card I created using the Season's Tweetings stamp set.  After die-cutting the polar bear, I outlined the him with a BG10 Copic marker to make the white pop.  You can see it better in this closeup:

Season's Tweetings

I think this is my favorite of all of my designs for the A Muse Studio October release!  The birds and branch are colored with Copics and then die cut and adhered over the aspen background with 3D foam adhesive.  This is a 4" square card that is scored on the left.

A Muse Studio October Release Day!

Woohoo!  It's release day and the A Muse Studio October collection is now available.  I have two cards for you today!  On this first card, I stamped the trees in lilypad and grass dye inks and then die-cut them.  The grass card base is four-bar size and scored on the left.  Here's a close-up:

On this next card, I stamped the trees and then adhered the peace die cut below them.  Tip: if you use a larger clear block, you can fit all three trees on it and stamp them all at once.

A Muse Studio October Sneak Peek Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the A Muse Studio October collection sneak peeks!  Today I am so excited to share with you our new "peace" die!  I have wanted a peace word die for at least a year and am so happy that it finally exists!  For my card, I die cut the snow on a post-it note and masked the sugar white cardstock.  Then I spritzed with Winter Sky splash.  "Peace" is die cut using Cobalt cardstock.  The card base is a four-bar sized cobalt card (3.5" x 5") that is scored on the left side.

A Muse Studio October Sneak Peek Day 2

It's Day 2 of the A Muse Studio October Collection sneak peeks!  My card today features the new "Pining For You" stamp set.  Wintery trees are my favorite images to use on my holiday cards, so I absolutely *love* this set!  The matching dies made it easy to cut out the trees after stamping and gave them a snowy effect.  The background is winter sky cardstock with a piece of sugar adhered to the bottom for the snow.  Here is a close-up:

A Muse Studio October Sneak Peek Day 1

Welcome to the first day of sneak peeks for the A Muse Studio October Collection.  This release includes fun wintery holiday sets!  Today I am featuring a peek at the Season's Tweetings stamp set.  This stamp set is so fun and will be available on Friday!  For my design, the background and snow were created by masking a section of sugar cardstock with a post-it note and then spritzing winter sky Splash ink.  I stamped the deer on sugar cardstock, then colored with Copics and die cut using the matching die set.  A red twinkle sticker gave him a glowing red nose.  Here's a close-up:

Pennant Birthday

My husband's grandmother turns 95 next week, so I worked on some fun birthday cards today. The A Muse Studio mini banner dies made the banners super easy!  My son likes the first one (above) better and my daughter likes the second one (below) better.  What's your vote?

Mama Rabbit

As the Design Team Coordinator for A Muse Studio, I am so excited for our new team - Melissa, Ilina, Emily, and Lisa.  Be sure to check out their awesome work on the A Muse Studio blog!  I have some inspiration for you from the new release which is available TODAY!

The big bunny is from the new "Happy Spring" stamp set and the small bunny is from the "Sweet Easter" set.  As soon as I saw these sets, I knew I wanted to put them together to make a bunny family.  I die cut a tiny egg from the bunny die set and then the pink bow is die cut from the Easter basket die set.  This card also features new grass dye ink.  Stay tuned, I have another design to share from the new release!

Mini Pop-up Heart Valentines

I love the new A Muse Studio mini heart pop-up die!  It's sized to fit the new gift card envelope - so fun!  I used a mask to cover the areas around the heart and then stamped with berry ink. Then I masked off a section of the heart, stamped the tip of the arrow, masked the other side and stamped the end of the arrow.  

Masking worked so well,  I created two more:

The mask was created by die-cutting a scrap, then using it as a template to trace the heart shape in the center of a piece of text-weight paper.  Fold the paper in the center of the heart and then cut it out.  It generally stays in place since the heart is popped-up a bit, but I did add a bit of 2-way glue (dried) to the back to help keep it in place while stamping.

On this one, I layered a mod backgrounds 2 stamp and the peppermint swirl for a different look.  I kinda like it - what do you think?  Which one is your favorite?

Been a while since I blogged!  I made a light-box to help with photos, so hopefully I'll have a chance to post more often again.  Let's see, since my last post, I had a baby (she is almost four now) and moved twice!  Crazy how time flies!

Harry Potter Party

For my son's birthday party this year, we had a Harry Potter party!  I've always wanted to throw an HP party, so it was fun to plan.  I finally uploaded photos of some of the crafty things we made for the party as well as the decor.  Instead of a loooong blog post, I uploaded them to an album and added comments to each photo (be sure to click on each photo - some have multiple comments so you might need to scroll down too).  Click here to see our Harry Potter party photos!  Enjoy!

Enjoy the Ride

Hello!  Long time no post!  So long in fact that Blogger has completely changed the way that posts are created - so hopefully this works ok and doesn't look too wonky. 

I thought I'd share this clean and simple card that I made to accompany a bike-themed gift.  One layer cards are so quick and easy to create.  The road lines were made using the "mad for plaids" A Muse Studio stamp set and then the bike image and sentiment are from the "enjoy the ride" set.

Butterfly Garden Inspired

This card was inspired by this fun Butterfly Garden fabric that I saw on Elisalou's blog. I used several different A Muse Studio nature sets and inks - so fun!

Can't believe it's May already and the school year is coming to an end. Time to think about graduation cards! My cousin recently graduated from Penn State, so I made this card with him in mind. Guy cards can be tricky so I kept it really simple. 

A little trivia for you about this "go forth and do good" quote from the new A Muse Studio ConGRADulations stamp set... it was said by my uncle, Minor Myers Jr., who was the President of Illinois Wesleyan University. He used it frequently in graduation speeches and you can hear him saying it on this youtube (scroll to around 4:35). I am *so excited* to have it as a stamp and you may have also seen a version of it on some of the "quotable cards" products out there on the market (he would vary the wording a bit to keep his speeches fresh). I think it is the perfect quote to give to a new grad and works great for both guys and gals!

Me in Kindergarten

When I was in Kindergarten, one of the parents came to our class and drew silhouettes of each child. We each sat in front of a white screen with a light shining just right to capture our silhouette. My mom has kept mine all this time and recently had it framed for me! I couldn't resist using it on a card after seeing all the silhouette images at the CHA show in January. It's too large to scan, so I took a photo of it and then pulled it into Photoshop Elements so that I could print it on cardstock. Kept the rest of the card simple with A Muse Studio damask shimmer paper and Nestabilities dies - plus a little white organdy ribbon for the final touch.

Sorry for the long blog break! It has been a busy first quarter! Good busy - birthdays, the launch of A Muse Studio, and spring break! Hope you are having a nice Spring!
