Word play - Spin

If you haven't read my post from earlier today, take a peek below to see what this is all about. The first featured word that I thought we could use as a starting point for inspiration and discussion is the word SPIN. What does spin mean to you?

A few thoughts come to mind for me when I think of "spin"... My first thought is "my mind is spinning with ideas". But I also think of "putting your spin on something to make it seem better or more interesting". For example, if I want my son to clean up his toys, I might put a positive spin on it somehow to make it seem fun. I can think of some fun stamping uses of the word spin too, but I will stop there and let you chime in!

So now it's your turn! What comes to mind for you with the word "SPIN"? Feel free to share your thoughts or if it inspires you to create, that's great too!

I think of the game "Twister" where you spin to take a turn...

I just think of my girls who want to spin around and make skirts or dresses fly out. They've been doing that a lot lately!

I just took my kids to the park on Wednesday and the word spin made me think of this thing they have there that looks like a bowl (with rails around the top of it) and the kids get in it and someone stands outside and spins it. They had a blast telling me to spin them faster and faster. I kept telling them I didn't want them to get dizzy and end up getting sick. But they did get a little dizzy from it anyway. They had fun.

In Austin, we have moonlight towers - huge metal light poles with artificial moonlight bulbs at the top. One is in Zilker Park and at Christmas it's all decked out in lights forming a huge (155 feet) tall Christmas tree. The lights are arranged in spirals and you haven't experienced Austin until you have spun around under the tree until you are dizzy! A pix can be seen here: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/tol/tree.htm

Hi Emily,

Lately, I've been thinking of how life is like a ferris wheel (as opposed to a box of chocolates). One day you're up and the next, you may be in the middle and on another, you could be down. So, it's a perpetual spin.

Oh, and pinwheels, spin reminds me of those too...which are a lot more fun than the wheel of fortune described above.

This is a word that my 2 year old daughter always say. First she'll ask me to carry her and then she'll say "spin around mommy spin!" and if I'm slow, she'll say "go fast mommy spin fast!"
