Chinese New Year!

My Dad has been doing consulting work in China during the past year. So this card is for him and his clients in honor of the Chinese Lunar New Year (which is on Jan 26 this year). They are 15 hours ahead of my time zone, so I decided to post it today since their fireworks and New Year's Eve celebrations will have already started by now. I created the background with my Chinese "chop" that my Dad had made for me. A chop is a Chinese stamp or seal usually put on art works and documents to indicate the maker or writer. Mine is made of stone - which you can see below. The characters on the top line sound like my name when spoken. And then the meaning of the characters on the bottom line are "beautiful work of art". The ink paste used with a Chinese seal is different from stamping ink - it's very thick and takes forever to dry. It was so fun to get a chance use it and of course it went perfectly with the new A Muse Ox stamp (by Missy Ballance)!

Images and notecards by A Muse. Chinese seal and ink paste; Versafine black and Sepia ink; EK Success whale circle punch, foam tape.
