Olympia and Hedwig

You might remember seeing this adorable owl on Lisa Spangler's blog early last year (this post is looong overdue!). Her name is Olympia and Lisa sent her to me when I sent her this fun felted flower. Well, soon after Olympia came to live with me, I was inspired to learn crochet. I know how to knit, so it wasn't too much of a stretch to pickup crochet. Within a few weeks - Olympia had a friend... soooo meet Hedwig!
Not too bad for my first crochet project! It was fun, but I don't think I'll be tackling too many other projects like this anytime soon. Just like with knitting, I found that my hands tensed up from working too long. Does that happen to you?

OMG! both of those owls are just the cutest! and i love your little Hedwig so!

my grandmother taught me to crochet, and i used to do it alot. just last year, i picked up my needled again and made my daughter a crocheted ear warmer/headband she'd wanted, a neck gaiter/scarf for myself, and picked up tons of patterns for things i'm looking forward to making!

my hands get cramped up a little too... but it's a fun craft! TFS

How adorable! Should have know you'd get around to crocheting eventually.

Thanks! SNW - the pattern I used is the same one that Lisa uses - but modified. http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/instant-crochetification.html

I just love Hedwig, Emily! So glad Olympia has a friend now! And you are so talented -- I've tried to learn how to knit but I just can't get it.

How have you been? Good I hope!

HUGS! :)
